About the event

Sure! I'd be happy to help you bake gingerbread. Here's a basic gingerbread recipe for you:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. You can use an electric mixer or do it by hand with a wooden spoon.
  3. Add the egg to the butter and sugar mixture and beat well. Then add the molasses and vanilla extract, and mix until everything is well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition. Continue mixing until the dough comes together and is thoroughly combined. It may be a bit sticky, but that's okay.
  5. Divide the dough in half and shape each portion into a disk. Wrap each disk in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until the dough is firm.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Take one disk of dough out of the refrigerator. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use gingerbread cookie cutters to cut out your desired shapes and place them onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space between the cookies.
  8. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned. Keep in mind that the baking time may vary depending on the size and thickness of your cookies, so keep an eye on them.
  9. Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Repeat the rolling, cutting, and baking process with the remaining dough until all the cookies are baked.

Now you have delicious gingerbread cookies ready to enjoy! You can decorate them with icing, candies, or any other decorations you like. Have fun and happy baking!
