About the event
The Holy Hour draws its inspiration from Matthew 26:40 in the Gospel. In this passage, Jesus, during the agonizing moments in the Garden of Gethsemane the night before his crucifixion, addressed his disciples, saying, "My soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and keep watch with me." (Matthew 26:38) Upon returning from his prayer, Jesus discovered his disciples asleep, and in Matthew 26:40, he asked Peter, "So, could you not keep watch with me for an hour?" His intention was not to request an hour of activity but rather an hour of companionship.
